The Importance of Appreciating Your Donors 

While it may feel awkward to communicate in writing with someone you don't know personally, it is very important that you formally thank your scholarship donors. First, you want to let them know how much you appreciate their support in reaching your goals and dreams. Second, letting the donors know how you are using your scholarship, and how much you depend on and appreciate it, encourages them to continue to provide scholarships to many future graduates of Calistoga High School. 

The purpose of this webpage is to provide you with the resources you need to feel confident while writing your thank you letters, including a template that you can copy in your drive and use to complete your letters.

Once your letters are complete, be sure to share them with Ms. Surber via Google Drive at [email protected].

Start by watching this video of students at SFSU expressing their appreciation for scholarships. What does each of them say, besides "thank you," that the donors would like to know?

Step #3: Copy The Template to Your Google Drive

This is a template formatted for your use in writing your thank you letters. Feel free to modify to your own style. Just be sure to include all parts of the template. 

Be sure to hang on to this template and any other "letter" templates you make, as you can easily use them in the future for more thank you letters, or even cover letters for resumes or applications. 

Step #4: Share & Mail Your Letters

Once you have finished writing your letters, please be sure to give them to Ms. Surber. She will mail them to the donors.

It's a really good idea to keep in touch with your donors over time as well. Imagine how pleased they will be to hear you have successfully completed your first semester or year of college! Your success is very important to and exciting for our many scholarship donors, so please be sure to send them an occasional update and let them know how you are doing.
