Under 18 and planning to work?

You will need a work permit
All students under 18 years of age and employed in the state of California must have a Permit to work. Follow the instructions below to get your work permit.
  1. Obtain the Application Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor and Request for Work Permit (Form B1-1)
  2. Complete the form and be sure it is signed by the employer, student and parent/guardian.
  3. Bring the completed form to the Maria Urzua in the school office for processing.  Allow approximately 1 week for processing.
  4. After processing, you will be asked to sign and date your permit.
  5. Take your Work Permit (Form B1-4) to your employer. The school office will also keep a copy for our records.
  6. You may begin work as soon as your official Work Permit (B1-4) has been presented to your employer.
  7. Your work permit is valid  for the  entire school year.
  8. If you get a new job, a new application and work permit is required for the new job.
